1-Indanone and its analogues are useful intermediates for the synthesis of compounds some of which have applications as pharmaceuticals, especially as analgesic and antihypertensive as well as tobacco flavoring agents. Indanones are commonly used as starting agent for the synthesis of ninhydrin whic

Material and methods Results Discussion Clinical gene therapy trials with viral vectors have been in use for treatment of various genetic disorders and diseases, however efficacious, targetable and highly reliable non-viral delivery systems are needed for safe and long-term applications. De

The subdivision of 5-HT receptors started in the 1950s by Gaddum and colleagues, when they realised that in the guinea pig ileum, the effects of 5-HT could be blocked in part by morphine (M), and in part by dibenzyline (D). Gaddum and Picarelli proposed two receptor classes, 5-HT M and 5-HT D (1957)

  2024-06-11

HCC aetiology is multifactorial and the disease is often preceded by other conditions including liver fibrosis and cirrhosis that are associated with HCV, HBV, alcoholic and non-alcoholic hepatitis. The discovery of new therapeutic targets will require a greater understanding of the pathogenic mecha

Contemporary understanding for alcoholic cardiomyopathy Up-to-date, a number of theories are postulated for alcoholic cardiomyopathy including generation of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS), oxidative stress, neurohormonal overactivation (catecholamines and angiotensin II), apoptosis a

ACL Inhibition: Lowering Blood LDL-C to Reduce ASCVD Risk Given its strategic position in the lipid biosynthesis pathway, ACL has been considered an attractive target for lipid-lowering even before statins and their effects on cholesterol homeostasis were elucidated (Box 2). Cells carefully maint

We also show that in both ATM proficient and deficient/mutant AR-M 1896 the activation of ATR signaling is DSB complexity-dependent (Figs. 1, 4A, C and E, 6A and B). Wang et al. have also reported that the effects of ATR and CHK1 on radiosensitivity are independent of the NHEJ repair pathway [41],

  2024-06-08

Among steroid saponins, ginsenosides are the active components of ginseng, a well-known chinese medicinal plant. More than hundreds of different ginsenosides have been isolated from ginseng and have shown in the past to be membrane active substances and to influence the membrane by modulating lipid

It is noticed that MDL-28170 only partly reversed isoflurane-induced AIF release and nuclear translocation. In addition to calpain mechanism, activation of the DNA repair enzyme poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase-1 (PARP-1) is also essential for AIF release (Culmsee et al., 2005; Moubarak et al., 2007), a

  2024-06-08

EPSP analogs were retrieved from PubChem database and docking procedure yielded about eight best binding analogs (Fig. 10). The selected molecules were further assessed for their theoretical Ki values using AUTODOCK software version 4. The predicted binding efficiency of retrieved analogs was estima

  2024-06-08

Earlier studies with SERMs identified that distinct chemical scaffolds have the ability to induce unique conformational changes in the ER, resulting in interaction with different cofactor subsets. The same has been demonstrated with SARMs, which induce distinct conformational changes compared to tes

Materials and methods Results Discussion In the present study, we identified HBP1 as a novel substrate of AKT. This was demonstrated by in vitro phosphorylation assays and western blotting using phosphosite-specific antibodies. Three sites were identified by mass spectrometry and mutagenesi

Heart failure is a chronic syndrome in which the heart is unable of pumping an adequate supply of blood to meet the metabolic requirements of the body or generating the required elevated ventricular filling pressures to maintain output [34]. Despite considerable advances in the treatment of heart fa

  2024-06-07

Adiponectin also suppresses inflammatory stimuli-induced NF-kappaB activation, which may significantly contribute to the anti-diabetic and anti-atherogenic effects of adiponectin (Ouchi et al., 2000). The downstream mediators of AdipoR1 and AdipoR2, RPPAR and AMPK increase inflammatory responses by
