Due to its unique histological architecture and blood supply, the lung is one of the most susceptible organs under uncontrolled systemic inflammatory circumstance [16]. Several studies have reported the anti-inflammatory benefits of metformin in acute lung injury induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS),

• Neural activity resulting from sensory experience

  2023-03-22

Neural activity resulting from sensory experience is required for the refinement and maturation of neural circuits during cortical critical periods. This refinement is thought to be important for functional optimization of primary sensory cortices, enabling critical functions such as feature detecti

Materials and methods Results Discussion Endophilin A1 is a membrane-binding protein that is mainly distributed in the central nervous system (Giachino et al., 1997), localizes in the dendritic shafts and spines of mature neurons (Yang et al., 2015), and relates to the function and morpholo

The functional significance of the cap residues with regard to the established role of PfA-M1 in hemoglobin catabolism in the food vacuole is a key question that is difficult to address with in vitro studies. We note that three of the dipeptide substrates used in our study are found in the sequences

Conclusions Conflict of interest Introduction Plants often encounter a series of abiotic stresses during the growth process, including high salinity, extreme temperatures and drought (Knight and Knight, 2001). Plants can adapt through ionic and osmotic homeostasis or osmotic adjustment, con

Introduction Rac1-dependent ROS and Iberiotoxin synthesis regulation in neuronal functions NOX-mediated ROS have an important role as physiological messengers. One remarkable example regarding such a function is during axonal formation. In this line, increased p40phox/NOX2 levels and co-locali

Materials and methods Results Discussion The data presented here demonstrate the important role of B lymphocyte-expressed α7 nAChRs in regulating the antibody immune response. It is shown that, in addition to ACh produced by activated T lymphocytes (Fujii et al., 2012), activated B lymphocy

The anorexic effect observed when AR231630 is infused into the VTA could be the result of the DA release inhibition, as previously described [11]. However, there is also a hedonic aspect in feeding that possibly involves dopaminergic mechanisms of reward. Helm et al. showed a functional link between

It was deduced empirically that the helix direction of the COOC torsion might relate to the sign of the peroxide Cotton effect. By contrast, there are few studies of cardiovascular benefits of interruption

While there is much in vivo work on prion-like Aβ, it has not been shown that one can induce inclusions of Aβ in cultured cells as has been shown for tau and α-synuclein. One reason is practical; Aβ is a low molecular weight metabolite cleaved from within the larger amyloid precursor protein (APP) a
