  2022-03-29

DNAzymes, a series of nucleotide sequences with specific catalytic activity, have been reported frequently applied in detection assays for such as ions and amino acids, due to the advantage in stability, high cost-effectiveness and modification convenience, by comparison with protein enzymes. The DN

• SETDB is ubiquitously expressed in mouse

  2022-03-28

SETDB1 is ubiquitously expressed in mouse tissues, and more than 900,000 ERVs are dispersed through the mouse genome. Nevertheless, the repertoire of ERVs under the control of SETDB1 was limited and highly cell-type specific. Only 17,349 ERVs were associated with H3K9me3 domains in Th2 cells. The va

  2022-03-28

Heme activates the master regulator of the anti-oxidant stress response, NRF2, which mediates the up-regulation of a battery of phase II detoxifying genes [106]. Remarkably, HO-1 induction by NRF2 is regulated via an interplay with the transcriptional repressor BACH1 at the Maf recognition phospholi

An approach for the key challenges facing forensic science One of the key challenges for forensic science is to avoid being side-tracked by one of the louder narratives in the media that the big problem forensic science faces is ‘junk science’ and ‘rogue scientists’. These are clearly important i

  2022-03-28

Introduction Hedgehog (HH) signaling regulates development, cell proliferation, and tissue repair [1], [2], [3]. In mammals, HH signaling is activated by 3 ligands: Sonic hedgehog (SHH), Indian hedgehog (IHH), or Desert hedgehog; SHH is the most widely expressed in adult tissues [3]. The primary re

  2022-03-28

Ikaros utilizes Ro 61-8048 remodeling to activate or repress the transcription of its target genes (Su et al., 2004). Ikaros directly associates with histone deacetylases HDAC1 and HDAC2 and can recruit them to the upstream regulatory elements of its target genes (Kim et al., 1999, Koipally et al.,

  2022-03-28

Introduction Activation of the lipid sensing receptor, GPR55, by lysophosphatidyl inositol (LPI) has been well documented, and implicated in endocannabinoid signaling [1]. Intracellular events resulting from GPR55 activation include; enhanced β-arrestin activity, calcium mobilization and ERK1/2 p

  2022-03-28

Hair loss in women is polygenic and multifactorial with the additional influence of environmental factors. Several studies focused on the importance of several genes related to alopecia (Carey et al., 1993, Hillmer et al., 2008, Randall, 2008). FPHL involves progressive hair follicle miniaturizatio

  2022-03-28

In recent large clinical studies, AIM-HIGH and HPS2-THRIVE, the additional treatment of nicotinic Tubastatin A to statin-based LDL-C lowering therapy did not decrease the major vascular events on the patients who had atherosclerotic vascular diseases [43,44]. In the AIM-HIGH study, the secondary ana

In silico analysis revealed structural similarities between the CpMutY and the EcMutY which share typical domains and structural motifs (Fig. 5), common to a wide range of structurally related DNA repair enzymes. These include an endonuclease III domain, involved in excision of damaged pyrimidines,

One possible pathway summarizing the overall action involves NMDA receptor activation – Ca2+ influx – protein kinase A (PKA) activation – ERK phosphorylation and subsequent synaptic plasticity (Thomas and Huganir, 2004). A few studies have also shown modulation of synaptic glutamate transporters in

In the GLUT family, glucose transporter 1(GLUT1) is primarily responsible for basal glucose uptake and maintenance of glucose basal metabolism in cells (Olson and Pessin, 1996). High GLUT1 expression occurred in various types of human cancers, like brain tumor, lung cancer and esophageal cancer (Nis
